Through this article post, we are throwing light on this highly popular subject of "purity of the soul" and "celibacy of the body".

The following was written in response to a query we received on our Samadhan WhatsApp group in September 2024.

☘️Everyone wants to know—if in order to live a 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 they would have to renounce marriage or abstain from sex... So here it is, our 𝕒𝕟𝕤𝕨𝕖𝕣 & 𝕖𝕩𝕡𝕝𝕒𝕟𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟.

🪻𝗠𝗨𝗥𝗟𝗜—If you have learned about 𝔹𝕣𝕒𝕙𝕞𝕒 𝕂𝕦𝕞𝕒𝕣𝕚𝕤, or are following the Gyan, you must know about 𝐌𝐮𝐫𝐥𝐢, the 𝙙𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚 𝙎𝙤𝙪𝙡 "𝙎𝙝𝙞𝙫" (or Shiv Baba) spoken through the vocal-medium of 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐣𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐡𝐦𝐚, after whom the name of organisation is given.

𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 "𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆" 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗹𝗶/𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁

If you have ever read or listened to the Gyan Murli, you will know what God's shrimat (direction) is on "celibacy" or "purity". Shiv Baba has given direction "to stay pure" in almost every single Sakar Murli. So you would not escape hearing about purity (the first principle of Brahman life) even if you have just started.

🌺Also, you must keep in mind that the Murli is original spoken in 𝐇𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢, in which, the word पवित्रता (𝘱𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘢) has been used to describe the very 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞. The literal meaning of पवित्रता is 𝙋𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮... The reason of confusion is that when you want to describe purity in the physical sense, the word "celibacy" is used. But indeed "purity" mean a lot more.

✱ 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘃𝘀 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗮𝗰𝘆 ✱

First of all—it is important to know the difference between "celibacy" and "purity".

✨𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 is a "state of the soul & mind" >> 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺-𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺-𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴. The state of complete purity is the state when we are in our 𝚑𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚎𝚜𝚝 𝚌𝚘𝚗𝚜𝚌𝚒𝚘𝚞𝚜𝚗𝚎𝚜𝚜, highest vibrational-frequency, that is; when we are ONE with God.

🌱𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐲 on other hand is >> 𝘢 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘴𝘦𝘹𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘭𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭. This includes—not marrying & practising abstinence from any kind of physical pleasure.

🪴So you see—many people practice celibacy for 𝐯𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬—including 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘦, 𝘢 𝘷𝘰𝘸, 𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘳𝘦, 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘧𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘨𝘰𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘯 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦, 𝘢 𝘱𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘤𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘶𝘮𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦.

𝗚𝗼𝗱'𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗹𝗶

But, God's direction is not limited to a physical level. We are to observe purity at all levels of life. Simply put—𝙋𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨, 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙨, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣/𝙙𝙚𝙚𝙙.

✶𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: The quality of thoughts we keep in the mind, the words we speak, and the deed/action we perform through various ways—all those 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 describes the soul within. The soul expresses itself through 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩, 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙙 & 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. Our thought about something then comes out in the form of "words" spoken in the mind, and then they togetherly sponsor our "action". Simply put—thought comes to words & word leads to action. "𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 & 𝙙𝙤, 𝙬𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚...𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚, 𝙬𝙚 𝘼𝙧𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝘼𝙧𝙚, 𝙬𝙚 𝘿𝙤"

☝️This is the cycle of creation.

✤ 𝘾𝙊𝙉𝘾𝙇𝙐𝙎𝙄𝙊𝙉 ✤

As we have explained the difference between "purity" and "celibacy" and that God's direction for us is to "𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐞" and "𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞". This shrimat (direction) is repeatedly given in all the Murlis.

👉To "become pure" means—𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘣𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵, 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘴 & 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘭𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦.

🌈𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬. Purity is said to be the mother (source) of all other 𝕧𝕚𝕣𝕥𝕦𝕖𝕤. A soul who observes purity at this level experiences 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 & 𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞... ultimately achieves a union with God. For this reason you will see in every religion, purity is consider the way to God... and so every monk (saint/sage) will practise it.

✶𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

But it is not true that you need to renounce relationships for this... No... that is both untrue and made up. The highest form of purity is observed when you 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦. Even if you are married, you can stay pure. This is the real challenge that one can accept. When we become an 𝚎𝚖𝚋𝚘𝚍𝚒𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚝 𝚘𝚏 𝚔𝚗𝚘𝚠𝚕𝚎𝚍𝚐𝚎, every such challenge becomes a natural flow... nothing remains difficult for 𝐚 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐥 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡 & 𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐭.

🌷The entire meaning of "purity" as baba speaks in almost every Murli--is being soul-conscious (away from the false consciouness of being this physical body)... this is simple meaning of living in purity.
