"Dealing with Blindfaith in Family" "Blindfaith in Indian families" and "Learning to Love God instead of fearing"
✶𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻: The following was our response to Noopur (from India) who reached us in January 2023 via Samadhan service.
You have asked a question here. We would like to give a straight answer to that first, as BrahmaKumaris too neither believe or propogate such blindfaith.
🌿See... there are many such beliefs in Indian culture. There are different beliefs in different parts of country. The reason why in some defined cultures many people refrain from celebration on the days of year on which something inauspicious happened, especially a death happened in family; is that they believe that celebration on those days means a disrespect to those who left body (died).
🌻All those blindfaiths are sourced from two things: "𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙤𝙛 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚" and "𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙧" >> if you carefully think, ignorance & fear are the sponsoring forces behind every blindfaith of world. And what causes fear? >> It is ignorance (𝕝𝕒𝕔𝕜 𝕠𝕗 𝕜𝕟𝕠𝕨𝕝𝕖𝕕𝕘𝕖 𝕠𝕗 𝕥𝕣𝕦𝕥𝕙)
🌷Fear makes them believe and stay with any of such nonsense >> simply because they come to the point of sin >>
✶𝓣𝓪𝓴𝓮 𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓮𝔁𝓪𝓶𝓹𝓵𝓮 >> it is followed widely that if you enter a temple, you must keep your footwear outside, you cannot show your back to the murty (idol) and you cannot reject the 𝘗𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘥 as that is God's blessings. On Saturday you cannot put oil or cut hair (day of Hanumaan) and you must make an offering to God and only then your wish is fulfilled... and there are many more such beliefs that are locally or generally practised in India... all this is sourced from ignorance and fear.
Knowing God, our all loving spiritual father would mean no fear, no rules to follow. And this will break-down all established religions, for all religions are sponsored by this same FEAR of God! The more you make people fear, the more they stick with a particular religion. 𝒯𝒽𝑒 𝓂𝑜𝓇𝑒 𝐿𝒪𝒱𝐸 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝓊𝓃𝒹𝑒𝓇𝓈𝓉𝒶𝓃𝒹, 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓂𝑜𝓇𝑒 𝐹𝑅𝐸𝐸𝒟𝒪𝑀 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝑒𝓍𝓅𝑒𝓇𝒾𝑒𝓃𝒸𝑒.
👉Right... now coming to your question:
"To sustain this lifelong relationship is much more important than celebrating a festival which comes for 1 day in a year."
🌺We suggest you to not take small things too high and keep life simple >> try to explain this wisdom to your husband >> do this lovingly and not with an intention to prove yourself right. Surely he would be influenced.
🌾Then leave it to his decision... You may discard the blindfaith, but no need to force anyone to do so. Let them have the wisdom we explained above and let them decide.
