Expectations from others can sometimes burden us so much that at times we can find people extremely difficult to deal with. ➤Also, we may loose interest in our lives to an extent, difficult to imagine. There was once a king who ruled a very big kingdom, which was full of different types of people, who were not only different in their roles but also very different in their personalities or Sanskars. The king sometimes wondered that I am not able to satisfy so many different people because everyone has different expectations from me. ➤At the same time, his different expectations from the people of his kingdom were immense and at times it became difficult for him to experience peace and inner stability while handling their concerns and demands. A minister of the king gave him a suggestion that instead of trying to focus on everyone’s desires and what they wanted, you be your good self and focus on playing your role in the best possible way and leave the rest to happen as it happens. ➤Many times, it’s not about making the effort to change others but it’s changing yourself which brings positive results. This is because it is your change which inspires others to change. Remember everyone will not act or behave as we want and sometimes it can be difficult to cope with this. But if we remain determined in our positive behavior and change, they will, after seeing our change, over a period of time, begin to realize their mistakes and become the way you expect them to be. Heat and sweetness are part of the unchanging make-up of the sun and sugar respectively; they are the basic properties of each of them respectively. ➤In the same way, despite whatever I have become as a human soul, my deep basic characteristics are still the same ones that have always existed in me. It’s my inner core of qualities that inspires me to seek perfection in goodness in whatever I do and whomever I interact with. ➤The innate 7 virtues of the soul are those that are the most basic: Peace, Joy, Love, Bliss, Purity, Power, and Truth. They are so basic that they are the foundation of all qualities and powers. The 8 powers are - the power to tolerate, power to accommodate, power to face, power to pack up, power to discriminate, power to judge, power to withdraw and power to co-operate. Then, step into the day on a determined note and see what difference this first powerful thought brings to the day. ➤It’s like getting up and saying Good Morning to everyone around you. By doing that, not only the morning but the complete day is spent in a positive way. In the same manner, a morning thought of determination to succeed on an emotional level is a great start of the day. This goes a long way in making us immune to the effects of the different types of problems that come our way throughout the day. It can be called a morning mantra which keeps us strong till the night. ➔A determined start of the day is half the work done and is the foundation of a day filled with success in keeping the mind under control and relationships successful. Also, the role in the family and at the workplace keeps running smoothly. We reject it unawares with statements like – I’m bored of eating this every morning, This dish is so bland, I wish my mother could cook better. We also worry or feel guilty – I might put on weight, what if my sugar levels increase, this doesn’t taste fresh, hope I won’t fall sick. ➤Once we decide to eat, let’s enjoy the food, not think of its effects. Let’s create thoughts of gratitude and love before and while eating. The quality or quantity may not always be perfect. Never mind – we have enjoyed (and will continue to enjoy) thousands of delicious meals. As a result, our beliefs about life, the situations of life, positivity, purity, goodness, soul realization and God have changed over a period of time. ➤Also, we have all been exposed to different types of information, different relationships, and different scenes of life in different births, which have affected our consciousness in different ways and also given our thoughts and beliefs the shape they have taken today. This is why today some people are more careful of every action of theirs and some are not so careful about the same. But the Law of Karma is clear.
