You have not mentioned any details or even 'what' the addiction is. But that would hardly change our response, as it is more 'generic' and helpful to you in dealing with ANY form of addiction or "facing the reality".



The 8 Steps

Please follow these 8 steps and practical suggestions and start seeing the results within a few days:


1. ๐—”๐—ฐ๐—ธ๐—ป๐—ผ๐˜„๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฑ๐—ด๐—ฒ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ง๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐˜๐—ต

Admit to yourself, without excuses, that the addiction exists. Write down how the addiction harms you (๐š‘๐šŽ๐šŠ๐š•๐š๐š‘, ๐š›๐šŽ๐š•๐šŠ๐š๐š’๐š˜๐š—๐šœ๐š‘๐š’๐š™๐šœ, ๐š•๐š’๐š๐šŽ-๐š๐š˜๐šŠ๐š•๐šœ). Facing the facts removes denial.


2. ๐—œ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ถ๐—ณ๐˜† ๐—ง๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ด๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€

Notice WHEN and WHY you craveโ€”is it ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ด, ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฎ, ๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ค๐˜ช๐˜ข๐˜ญ ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด, ๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ฌ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ท๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜บ, ๐˜ฆ๐˜ต๐˜คโ€”and write these down so you can anticipate and "prepare" for them in advance.

When urges hit, pause and "observe" the sensation without acting on it... Label it โ€œcravingโ€ and watch it rise and fall, knowing itโ€™s temporary. DO NOT ACT on the desire as if you "cannot". This way you can eliminate the "desire" that is pulling you towards this addiction.


4. ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ, ๐——๐—ผ๐—ปโ€™๐˜ ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€

Find healthier alternativesโ€”๐š ๐šŠ๐š•๐š”๐š’๐š—๐š, ๐š ๐š›๐š’๐š๐š’๐š—๐š ๐šŠ ๐š๐š’๐šŠ๐š›๐šข, ๐šŽ๐šก๐šŽ๐š›๐šŒ๐š’๐šœ๐š’๐š—๐š, ๐šŒ๐šŠ๐š•๐š•๐š’๐š—๐š ๐šŠ ๐š๐š›๐š’๐šŽ๐š—๐š, ๐šŽ๐š๐šŒโ€”so your ๐ž๐ง๐ž๐ซ๐ ๐ฒ/๐š๐ญ๐ญ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐Ÿ๐ญ๐ฌ from running away to actively choosing another path.


5. ๐—ฆ๐—ฒ๐˜ ๐—ฆ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น ๐—š๐—ผ๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜€

Rather than โ€œquit forever,โ€ start with โ€œno use todayโ€ or โ€œdelay the urge by 10 minutes.โ€ Celebrate each success to build confidence.


6. ๐—•๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—น๐—ฑ ๐—ฎ ๐—ฆ๐˜‚๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜ ๐—ฆ๐˜†๐˜€๐˜๐—ฒ๐—บ

Share your truth, your situation...with someone you trustโ€”๐˜ข ๐˜ง๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ, ๐˜ด๐˜ถ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ต ๐˜จ๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ฑ, ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ ๐˜ข ๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณโ€”so youโ€™re not facing cravings in isolation, and you always remember "I AM NOT ALONE"

List specific coping strategies for highโ€‘risk moments (โ€œIf I feel the urge after work, Iโ€™llโ€ฆโ€) and keep that plan handy... FOLLOW the plan every time you are pulled towards that addiction.. and "reward yourself" for doing it.


8. ๐—ฆ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ณโ€‘๐—–๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป

Mistakes arenโ€™t failures but feedback. "Acknowledge" what happened, LEARN from it, and TRY AGAIN BETTERโ€”treating yourself with the same kindness you would offer a dear friend.
