Introduction: The eternal dance between duty (dharma) and passion (the heart’s call) lies at the core of human existence, a dilemma as ancient as philosophy itself. Dharma, rooted in traditions of Hinduism and Buddhism, embodies the moral principles and cosmic order—the responsibilities, ethics, and roles that bind individuals to society and the universe.
Yet, equally compelling is the heart’s calling, an inner pull toward authenticity, creativity, and purpose that defies rigid structures. This dichotomy raises a profound question: Must we sacrifice personal longing for collective obligation, or can these forces coexist harmoniously?
From Arjuna’s crisis in the Bhagavad Gita to modern existential dilemmas, humanity has sought pathways to honor both the soul’s fire and the weight of earthly duty. This article post beautifully explains how aligning dharma with passion is not a compromise but a sacred integration—a journey to live fully and responsibly.

Foreword
This would be our most helpful guidance given on 'finding a balance' b/w life and spirituality. Please read this with utmost attention. Read it again and again till it fully dissolves in your heart. This will feel relevant to many and most of you, so please 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 this message to others.
Managing family responsibilities (earthly duty), personal aspirations (heart's call), and spiritual growth (life's purpose)—requires a 'balanced' approach.
Your situation is quite pivotal. What you choose now will impact your 𝚕𝚒𝚏𝚎 & 𝚜𝚙𝚒𝚛𝚒𝚝𝚞𝚊𝚕 𝚓𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚗𝚎𝚢. Hence, in order to give you a complete & helpful guidance, i am going to use the THREE basic principles of life as mentioned in the ancient Indian scriptures:
𝗗𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮 (𝗗𝘂𝘁𝘆)
Supporting your family during a financial crisis aligns with the principle of DHARMA, as it embodies the moral principles and cosmic order—the responsibilities, ethics, and roles that bind individuals to societal order and the universe.
𝘿𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨: "Talk". Open a heartfelt dialogue with your parents to understand their perspective and needs. They may value your emotional well-being over immediate financial contributions. See if they need your help and ask them HOW.
𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗮 (𝗪𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵)
Money is surely important, as it ensures a comfortable survival and a financial freedom. At times, money helps you in fulfilling your dream and even in helping others.
𝘿𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨: Consider 'practical steps' to contribute—such as 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵-𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬, 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘦 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 (e.g., graphic design, digital arts, or art therapy). These fields offer income while keeping you connected to your passion. This is called balancing the heart and the mind.

𝗞𝗮𝗺𝗮 (𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲)
The persuit of your desire (heart's calling and life-purpose) is all embodied under this third Purusharth of human life. Kama (desire) is the pursuit of emotional, sensory, and aesthetic fulfillment, encompassing love, pleasure, creativity, and the enjoyment of life’s beauty.
When you listen to your inner voice, your intuition, the heart's calling—you are going with the natural flow of life. Living this way, you source your joy from the process, live in the moment, and learn to enjoy every scene of life. As they say: "Do what you love and enjoy"
𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲
Since you are at early stage of life, we can advise you on career options that can help you 'balance' your passion, and also ensure a good income. Let's call it a 'hybrid' path.
➤𝗛𝘆𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵
Pursue art (listen to your heart's call) while also developing popular 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠—to enhance employability. Use the internet to earn money 'displaying' and 'selling' your art: 𝙾𝚗𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚎 𝚙𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚏𝚘𝚕𝚒𝚘𝚜, 𝚜𝚘𝚌𝚒𝚊𝚕 𝚖𝚎𝚍𝚒𝚊 & 𝚏𝚛𝚎𝚎𝚕𝚊𝚗𝚌𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚜𝚒𝚝𝚎𝚜.
Part 2
𝗣𝘂𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵 & 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵
Understand that spirituality does not ask you to give up the earthly duties. But indeed, when you become more 'aware' of your spiritual identity, when you GROW spiritually, you also become more 'aligned' to your 𝚕𝚒𝚏𝚎-𝚙𝚞𝚛𝚙𝚘𝚜𝚎 and—life will become simpler, struggles will begin to end, and you will grow out stronger & wiser from every experience of life.
Therefore, BE BRAVE... Do not see life's struggles as an 'obstacle' to your spiritual growth, but they are catalysts. 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 '𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫'. 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 '𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫'... 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐡! God has never left you alone, and never will. You only need to "surrender" and let the 𝚍𝚒𝚟𝚒𝚗𝚎 𝚏𝚘𝚛𝚌𝚎 guide you through the lights and shadows of life. "LET GO & LET GOD"
➤ 𝙏𝙍𝙐𝙎𝙏: Trust that you are always safe. There is no way you will miss your 'spiritual growth' in trying to provide for your family, or in chasing your dream... 𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦, 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞. That is why you are here. Trust that IT WILL HAPPEN, no matter what struggles otherwise suggest.
"𝙏𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝘼𝙧𝙚 𝘽𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨"
It is when the soul is tested to its limit that it GROW beyond the limit... And you will feel the 'closest' you ever did to god during these times. You will feel 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝, 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝. When you follow this path, amidst chaos you will be 'at peace' and that god will do all your work, bring you out to the light. This is the holy promise.
🍀So go on, 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐮𝐭𝐲, 𝐛𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 '𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬' 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞. Trust that there is 'light' at the end of this tunnel, awaiting the BEST OF YOU... And that this 'process' of life is blessed to awaken THE BEST IN YOU.

Here are our practical suggestions you should immediately follow:
𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙩-𝙏𝙚𝙧𝙢
Explore flexible income sources (𝚏𝚛𝚎𝚎𝚕𝚊𝚗𝚌𝚎 𝚊𝚛𝚝, 𝚝𝚞𝚝𝚘𝚛𝚒𝚗𝚐, 𝚍𝚒𝚐𝚒𝚝𝚊𝚕 𝚌𝚘𝚗𝚝𝚎𝚗𝚝) to 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 the financial-stress without giving up your passion (long-term goals).
𝙇𝙤𝙣𝙜-𝙏𝙚𝙧𝙢
Research creative industries with 'growth potential' and build a 𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐨. Find inspiring people in 𝐚𝐫𝐭 and stay connected to 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. Connect with like-minded people through social media and forums.
𝙎𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚
Dedicate time daily to 'meditation' (RajYog). Self-empowerment, connecting with the supreme, giving Sakash to your family, following spiritual principles—this is your priority. Everything else is second. Through meditation, seek 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 & 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞. Bring out 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 into your creative work (job) to merge art and spirituality.
